Albert W. “Al” Schmiege, age 73 of Lake Delton, Wisconsin died Monday, March 10, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital Medical Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at 6:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin with Reverend Dennis Schueler and Vicar Douglas Taylor co-officiating. Cremation will follow the traditional services. Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday from 4 P.M. until the time of service at 6 P.M.

Al was born July 9, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Albert G. and Esther (Riewe) Schmiege. He grew up in Chicago and attended Chicago Vocational High School. In 1958 he enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1960. In August of 1960 he married Helen Prespare and she preceded him in death in 1982. In 1983 he married Millie Prespare in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Al loved to fish; was an avid Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers fan; enjoyed watching football and liked to visit HoChunk Casino.

Al is survived by his wife, Millie; sons, Albert (Lori) Schmiege of Mauston, Wisconsin and Brian (Shannon) Schmiege of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; daughter, Susan (Chris) Black of Verona, Wisconsin; stepdaughter, Millie Jane Painton of Troy, New York; brother, Donald (Dawn) Schmiege of Worth, Illinois; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Helen.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Salvation Army.
