Bette (Stroede) Jones, age 85 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Monday, October 29, 2007 at St. Clare Hospital, Baraboo, Wisconsin. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Presbyterian Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Steven Keller officiating. Burial will be at the Davis Corners Cemetery in Jackson Township, Adams County, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home of Lake Delton, Wisconsin on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. and on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the United Presbyterian Church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 11:00 A.M. Bette was born March 4, 1922 in Adams County, Wisconsin the daughter of John and Myrtle (Schultz) Stroede. She married Robert Jones in Wisconsin Dells in November of 1949. Betty was a bookkeeper at the Kilbourn Cooperative Creamery, Stroede Brothers Construction, and the Oxford Lumber Company for many years. Bette was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church serving as an elder, deacon and chairing many other committees. She was a past officer of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Senior Citizens and American Legion Auxiliary. Bette was devoted to her family and a true friend to all who knew her. She loved the garden and supplied her friends with fresh produce. She is survived by her husband, Robert; sons, Steven (George Ann) Jones of Reedsburg and Bruce Jones of Wisconsin Dells; daughter Diane (Richard) Lemke of Montello; four grandchildren, Christina Delanty, Paula Pavelka, Robert Keyes and Michael Jones and two great-grandchildren; brothers, August (Lorraine) Stroede, Ernest Stroede and Richard (Emily) Stroede as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Elliot; brother, John Stroede; son, David Jones and grandson David Todd Jones. In lieu of flowers memorials of remembrance may be made to the United Presbyterian Church. |
