Gerald “Jerry” Walker, age 73 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in the comfort of his own home with his family by his side. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin with Reverend Cassandra May officiating. Interment at Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells with military rites provided by the American Legion Post 26 of Baraboo will follow the service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. Jerry was born July 30, 1934 in Fox Lake, Wisconsin the son of Orville and Florence (Evans) Walker. In June of 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in March of 1975. He retired as a tech sergeant and was an aircraft electrical mechanic. Retirement didn’t last long and he worked in Arizona on water drilling equipment. He also enjoyed woodworking and fixing things. Jerry is survived by his son, Koichiro “Ko” (Tana) Walker of Paradise Valley, Arizona; grandsons, Yoshi and Jiro; a dear friend, Dorothy Fitzgerald of Baraboo; sisters, Beverly Prothero of Merrimac, Wisconsin, Betty (Robert) Giebel of Wisconsin Dells, Shirley (Phillip) Wedekind and Charlene (William) Turner both of Baraboo, Wisconsin, Mary Albedyll of Poynette, Wisconsin and Patricia Kemp of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; and brothers, Bruce (Pam) Walker of Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, Gale (Bonnie) Walker of Reedsburg and Chester (Rebecca) Walker of Lakeview, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Fusako Tani in 1990; daughter, Hitomi; sister, Susan Erickson; and brothers, Ronald and Robert. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Easter Seal Society, Camp Wawbeek. |
