Helen Koltes, age 81 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died peacefully Sunday, December 23, 2007 at the Barrington/Our House in Wisconsin Dells where she had been a resident since January of 2000.

Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the Crothers family lot in Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Steven Keller officiating.

Helen was born October 26, 1926 at Jordan Lake in Jackson Township of Adams County, Wisconsin the daughter of (William) Rexford and Frieda (Licht) Crothers. This was the same house that her grandfather, William A. Crothers and her father had been born in and in 2006 she and her brother were recognized by the State for continuous family ownership of the Jordan Lake farm for 150 years. Helen attended Pleasant View School, formerly called Tanner, in Section 36 of Jackson Township and then graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School with the class of 1945.

Helen moved to Madison, Wisconsin and was employed by the Rennebohm Drug Store chain for several years. She then began a 35 year career with First National bank which later became Firstar and is now part of US Bank. Helen retired back to Jordan Lake in 1986.

Helen married Joseph John Koltes in Madison on May 25, 1946 and he preceded her in death in October of 1998. They did not have any children.

Helen enjoyed traveling in her earlier years and had traveled with her husband to various parts of the United States and made two trips to Europe. She was noted for her gracious hospitality and good food. She enjoyed her cats and walks along the lake to visit with neighbors. She had been a member of the local neighborhood club.

Helen is survived by a brother, William R. (Joyce) Crothers of Onalaska, Wisconsin; a nephew, Scott of Jordan Lake and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother in June of 1984; father in March of 1992; and husband.
