Ilene Follendorf, age 81 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin and Tucson, Arizona died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center of Fitchburg, Wisconsin. Memorial funeral services will be held Monday, July 14, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Steven Keller officiating. Visitation will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Monday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. Ilene was born July 15, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Ingvald and Mathilda “Tillie” (Ulness) Hansen. She married Ross Follendorf on September 12, 1947 in Minneapolis. They moved to Wisconsin Dells in 1959 where they owned and operated Hansen’s Department Store until his retirement in 1976. Ross and Ilene spent their retirement years wintering in Tucson and the rest of the year back in Wisconsin Dells with their family and friends. Beside their love of traveling, collecting antiques and many other shared interests, Ilene was an avid golfer, bowler and liked playing cards especially bridge. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening. Dear to her heart was providing a warm and traditional home for her family and loved ones and she was the armchair coach on game day when the Packers played. Ilene is survived by her daughters, Linda Follendorf of Redlands, California, Susan (Martin) Steffes of Wisconsin Dells and Carol (Peter) Broadley of New Glarus, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Amy, Sarah and Scott Steffes, Jennifer and Allison Broadley; many nieces and nephews; a brother in law, Robert Follendorf of Oceanside, California and close family friends, Bill and Jean Frenz of Richfield, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Ross; brothers, Ubert and Morris Hansen and sisters, Violet Ford and Mildred Sauko. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association. |
