John “Iwan” Zapuchlak, age 85 of Lake Delton, Wisconsin died Sunday, July 1, 2007 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin with Father Oleh celebrating. Burial will be at the Lake Delton Village Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.

John was born September 14, 1921 in Horoshinka, Ukraine the son of Gregory and Mary (Kitt) Zapuchlak. As a young person, John grew up in an area of the world that was at war which required moving and staying with other people and begging for food to survive. Another struggle was to maintain the Ukraine Christian Religion. In 1944 John moved to Germany where he learned the tailoring trade and in February of 1946 he married Anastasia Zapuchlak. They moved to Mississippi in the United States in 1949 and shortly after they moved to Chicago where John continued the tailoring business. In 1960 they moved to the Dells area and purchased Tuft’s Cabins. In 1962 they built and developed the present Mayflower Motel in Lake Delton.

John is survived by his wife, Anastasia; son, George (Terri); son in law, Victor Minetti; and daughter in law, Jill Zapuchlak all of Lake Delton; grandchildren, Tanya, Peter, Lara, Nadia, Bianca and Nicholas; and great grandchildren, Gunnar, Maia, Josie, Cooper, Lydia and Bohdan. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bohdan “Bob”; daughter, Mary Minetti; and 3 brothers, Roman, Joseph and Michyloh.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials be directed to Home Health United Hospice.
