John R. Kremer, age 82 of Beloit, Wisconsin formerly of Wisconsin Dells died Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Beloit Memorial Hospital. A memorial/prayer service will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin with Monsignor Felix Oehrlein officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:30 P.M. until the time of service at 6:30 P.M. Memorials of remembrance may be made in John’s honor to the Millenium Building Fund at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells. John was born on November 15, 1925 at home in Wisconsin Dells the son of Jack and Ann (Lauerman) Kremer. On September 18, 1954 he married Lou Rae Voros at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church. John graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1943. He joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1943 to 1945 and was present at the surrender of the Japanese Empire to the Allied Nations on September 2, 1945. Following an honorable discharge he attended the University of Wisconsin Madison for two years. John worked for the Bank of Wisconsin Dells starting as a bookkeeper and eventually retiring in 1989 as a Vice President. He also served on the Board of Directors at the bank from 1975 to 1995. John was a past Commander of the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187, Wisconsin Dells and belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is a charter member of the Wisconsin Dells Rotary Club and worked at many WoZhaWa Festival fund raisers. John and Lou Rae wintered many years in Palm Desert, California. In August of 2003 he moved to Beloit to be closer to his daughter, Cindy. John loved golfing, gambling, playing cribbage, shooting pool and spent many hours with his puzzle books. He loved “The Price is Right” and shook Bob Barkers’ hand at a taping out in California. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Lou Rae; daughter, Cindy Kremer (Steve DeRango) of Roscoe, Illinois; step grandchildren, Becky (Brent) Mangiaracina and Lisa DeRango; cousins, Bob (Jess) Fuchiek and Ed (Chris) Lauerman; sister in law, Boni (Jack) Hanson; nieces, Belinda (Henry) DeKruiff, Heidi Hanson and Jill (Keith) McCoy; nephew, Tim (Kathy) Blatchley and 5 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister in law, Jeanie Blatchley and brother in law, Paul McCloskey.
