Marilyn Julia Foster Severson, age 84 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Friday, December 7, 2007 at the Beverly Living Center in Wisconsin Dells. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Joan Smoke officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be held at Holy Cross Episcopal Church on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at 10:30 A.M. Marilyn was born October 12, 1923 to Blanche (Skirven) and Kenneth Foster, Sr. at St. Mary’s Ringling Hospital in Baraboo. Her mother used to say that Marilyn and Christopher Columbus discovered America on the same day. She grew up in Wisconsin Dells to become a member of the infamous “Terrible Ten”. Well known by both friends and teachers to have the gift of gab, as well as her talent on the flute, earned her the nickname “Windy”. She graduated from high school and married her high school sweetheart, Larry on August 18, 1944. They moved to Elroy where they raised their two daughters, Kristin and Holly. Marilyn was active in her girl’s lives and never missed their school events, especially the marching band. She worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro, Wisconsin, retiring after the sudden death of her husband Larry. In 1985 Marilyn returned to Wisconsin Dells working at the Wisconsin Dells Visitors and Convention Bureau and Holiday Wholesale. Her indomitable optimistic spirit earned her the friendship and admiration of all who had the opportunity to know her. She was an animal lover especially cats and enjoyed knitting, sewing, other needlework, shopping with friends and was a devoted member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry; sister, Suzanne Willard and many friends. Surviving are daughters, Kristin (Gary) Shepard and Holly (Les) Pennington of Wisconsin Dells; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Catherine (Arnie) Borcher of Wisconsin Dells and brother, Kenneth (Lucille) Foster, Jr. of Wisconsin Dells. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Holy Cross Episcopal Church. |
