Verna Louise Beard, (nee Ennis) age 86 of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin died Sunday, January 20, 2008 at St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells with Monsignor Felix Oehrlein celebrating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M.

Verna was born December 27, 1921 in Wonewoc, Wisconsin the daughter of Lawrence and Lillian (Schneider) Ennis. In April of 1940 she married Leon Beard in Wonewoc. She had worked in Wisconsin Dells as a waitress at Field’s Steak and Stein for many years and at Bailey’s Landing Gift Shop for many years. Verna loved to cook for her large family and feed and watch birds. Most especially she enjoyed spending all the time she could with her family.

Verna is survived by her children; sons, William (Corinne) Beard of Baraboo, Wisconsin, James (Kathleen) Beard of Oxford, Wisconsin and Andrew (Rosemary) Beard and Merle Beard both of Wisconsin Dells; daughters, Leah Fawcett of Lake Delton, Wisconsin and Myrna (Alva) Smith of Wisconsin Dells; 19 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brothers, Ambrose (Dorothy) Ennis of Lake Delton and Charles Ennis of Sauk City, Wisconsin; sisters, Stella (Harland) Zick of Madison, Wisconsin, Dorothy Zimmerman of Baraboo and Joan Fisher of Wisconsin Dells; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leon; a still born child; a grandson, Daniel; a son in law, Bob Fawcett; and brothers, Norvin, George, Edward, Clarence, Richard and Frank Ennis.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
