Helen Evelyn Becker

Helen Becker, beloved wife and mother, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer at the Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells.

A celebration of Life for Helen will take place at the Picha Funeral Home (321 Washington Ave.) in Wisconsin Dells, Thursday, March 28, 2013 from 4 to 6pm. All are invited.

Helen was 87 years old. Born on June 15, 1925 to Fred and Amanda Schirmer in Old German Town (Castle Rock area) and she was the youngest of 4 brothers and 5 sisters. After attending New Lisbon high school and graduating in 1943, she moved to Chicago and worked on assembling the B-29 airplanes. After WW2 she returned to New Lisbon and worked as a waitress at THE BEANERY. There she met her lifetime partner, Fred Becker (railroad agent and telegrapher) and married him October 20, 1946. They were married for 67 years. During her lifetime she worked as an Avon representative, store clerk, and primarily as a medical secretary in Mauston, Wisconsin. She and Fred moved to Wisconsin Dells in 1974 and she completed her working career as a secretary at Holiday Wholesale.

Helen loved to dance and many remember her and Fred as among the best. She also enjoyed her rock garden and keeping her house in perfect order. Crossword puzzles were absolutely no challenge for her and she completed several weekly. She was a lovely, warm and compassionate woman and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Helen is survived by her husband, Fred Becker; 3 children: Linda (Ken) Fedraw, Janet (Mike) Feehan and Bill (Rebecca) Becker; 5 grandchildren: Tamara (Tom) Recke, Melanie Fedraw, Jacob Feehan, Amanda Feehan and Gregory Feehan; 2 great grandchildren, Csaba and Emersen Recke; one sister, Dorothy Wunsch, and one brother, Ernie (June) Schirmer.
