Bonnie was born on May 6, 1953, the daughter of Herbert and Martha Alice (Jessen) Meltesen in Shennington, Wisconsin. She was Baptized on August 2, 1953, and Confirmed on May 14, 1967 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Shennington, Wisconsin. She also, as a teen, sang in the church choir and helped teach Sunday school. She liked working in her flower beds, hand quilting, crocheting, drawing, painting, and burning Bible passages into wood signs. She collected Cowboy hats, Crosses, and old oil lanterns. She loved going to auctions and sales, and even ran a lunch wagon for auctioneers for a year. Bonnie was an apartment manager for several years, then a supervisor at Ho-Chunk Casino for 15 years.
