Carolyn H. King, age 82 of Verona, WI and formerly of Wisconsin Dells, WI passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024.

She was born on March 11, 1942 in Chicago, IL, the eldest of three children born to Frank and Sophie (Piotrowski) Wawrzyniec. She married George W. King on June 10, 1967 and together they had one daughter, Donna. Carolyn grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago on Kenneth Avenue where her family was a member of All Saints Cathedral, Polish National Catholic Church. Her childhood upbringing was enriched with the presence of her maternal grandmother and many nearby family members, including numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Carolyn loved to spend time outdoors in her neighborhood, riding bikes or roller skating with friends and family, and had a special affinity for animals having owned dogs, cats, birds, and other animals throughout her lifetime. In summers she traveled with her siblings to visit the farm of her paternal grandparents near Mosinee, WI where she learned much about rural life and expanded her love of nature. Carolyn graduated from Carl Schurz High School in 1960 and worked in the area as a bank teller. In 1979 she and George relocated to Adams County, WI where they raised pigs and owned a small farm. Carolyn was employed at and retired from Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston, WI where she worked in the Human Resources and Medical Billing departments. Upon retirement Carolyn moved to Verona, WI to be near her daughter and family.

Carolyn cherished family above all else and selflessly put their well-being ahead of her own. She was an integral part of her grandchildren's lives, creating many special memories that they will carry with them forever. Her continual love and generosity will be sorely missed.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband George, parents Frank and Sophie Wawrzyniec, and brother Frank Wawrzyniec. She is survived by her daughter Donna (Eric) Bates, grandchildren Elizabeth and Patrick, sister Bernice Wawrzyniec, and countless other extended family members.

Memorial services will be private, immediate family only.
