Constance "Connie" Lonetree, age 90 of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, CooNąąkeCoowį "Blue Blackbear Woman", walked on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 12:00 noon at Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin with Scott Murkve officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held at Conway Picha Funeral Home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon.
Connie was born July 24, 1935 in Tomah, Wisconsin at the Tomah Indian Hospital, the daughter of Francis and Florence (Littlejohn) LaMere. She graduated from Portage High School in 1956 and married Edward Lonetree on April 23, 1963 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She furthered her education and became a licensed practical nurse in 1962, attended the Cook Christian Training School in Phoenix, Arizona followed by enrolling in the registered nurse program in Rochester, Minnesota. She served on the Tribal Board of Elders and was a youth counselor. Connie was an adventurous individual and feared no new venture.
On a lighter note, in her younger years with her three sisters, together they formed a singing group called the LaMere Sisters and performed around the country with their talents. Connie loved family get togethers, pow-wows and other tribal events, supporting the local casino along with enjoying food and fellowship.
Connie is survived by a son, Daryl; sisters, Joanne LaMere, Lenore Sweet and brother, Larry LaMere and by the large extended relatives of the Lonetree's, LaMere's, Littlejohn's, Bighorn's, Decorah's, Littlesam's and Sweet's. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; daughter, Lana Lynn; sister, Francile Bighorn; and brothers, Duane and Francis LaMere, Jr.
