Obituary

David Geldon, age 73, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025.

Private family services were held Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Picha Funeral Home in Wisconsin Dells, WI.

David was born on May 24, 1951, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to John and Bernice (Krzewina) Geldon. He graduated from Pio Nono High School and soon after proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years. His dedication and sense of duty were qualities that defined him throughout his life. Following his military service, he built a career at Allen Bradley, later known as Rockwell Automation and later served his community during his retirement delivering meals for Meals on Wheels.

David married Janis, his devoted wife of over 25 years and together they raised two sons, Jason and Michael. Their shared love for their boys and compassion for each other kept them close, up until the very end. Janis knew him as a good man - kind, thoughtful, and generous. David took great pride in his role as a father.  He and his eldest son Jason spent many afternoons poolside, telling stories and laughing over a cold beer.  David also cherished their Sunday phone calls, always eager to catch up.  He enjoyed visiting with his youngest son Michael, whom he affectionately called "Mooch Man" and his family.  He was eager to lend a hand as "Mr. Fix-It" for his daughter-in-law Christine tackling anything on her list. As "Grandpa Dave" to Michael and Christine's children Clayton and Michelle, David took on a very special role.  He treasured spending all the time he could with his grandchildren, often volunteering to help with early morning school drop offs, or spending an afternoon of spoiling them.  The bond they shared with him will forever be held close to their hearts. His love for family also extended to his loyal canine companions, from Bucky to Rexy and finally Peanut, who were always by his side. David also had a passion for sports, particularly baseball and golf.  This carried him into coaching softball and basketball for his sons at St. Helen's Grade School in the 1990s. David was a dedicated Wisconsin Badgers sports fan. On game days, he could be found in his Badger basement, listening to the best band in the land, lighting lucky candles and doing anything else he could to contribute to a big victory for his Badgers.

David was a man of routine and embraced life's simple pleasures, most of the time with a beer in hand. He found enjoyment in cutting the grass, getting his daily scratch-off ticket, and oftentimes gathering around a bonfire with loved ones.  David was a man of faith and attended church every Sunday. Anyone who knew David would agree that his warmth and generosity was like no other even though he was at times, a man of strong convictions. He loved making memories and never wanted the good times to end.
David is survived by his wife, Janis Geldon; his sons, Jason Geldon and Michael (Christine) Geldon; his grandchildren, Clayton and Michelle Geldon; and many cousins and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Karen Kubiak.

David's presence will be deeply missed, but his love and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
