David Maier, age 93, of Mauston, Wisconsin passed away on Sunday, May 24,2026 at Crestview Nursing Center in New Lisbon.

David was born November 22, 1932 in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. He was the son of George and Elsie (Elitzer) Maier. He attended Cumberland Grade School and graduated from Whitefish Bay High School. He also attended Spencerian College in Milwaukee. He served in the US army from 1953-1955 and was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO.

He spent a large part of his career working for the AC Delco division of General Motors as a District Manager. David prided himself on "being good at shuffling papers" but never cared for his previous desk jobs. His district managerial work afforded him the luxury of driving to warehouses and jobbers in central and northern Wisconsin and the Michigan Upper Peninsula. He loved the beautiful countryside.

Traveling was a passion for David. Over the course of 50 years, he owned six RV's that he used to visit most of the United States including Alaska, along with Canada and Mexico.

In 1987 he purchased Elroy Auto Supply and operated that business until 1996. After retiring, he decided to see more of God's beautiful world and took six trips to Eastern and Western Europe, Morocco and China.

David was very active in the Lutheran Church and his faith was an important part of his life. He was elected to councils at his churches in Shorewood, Madison, Marshfield and Mauston and served with great devotion.

He is survived by his sister, Margaret Collura; his daughters Kathleen Shaffer and Ann Brandt; his step-daughters Christine Montoya and Therese Calcagno; and six grandchildren; James, Lauren, Sarah, Orion, Nicholas, and Amanda.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Elsie; wives Esther Adams and Joan Montoya; brother Don Maier; sisters Dorothy and Delores; and son Thomas Maier.

No services are planned at this time. A memorial will be held by the family at a future date.
