David Ward Nelson, age 59, of Wisconsin Dells, passed away after a short bout with cancer, with his loving sister, Heidi, and brother-in-law, Mark, by his side.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22nd, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, WI. There will be a private burial on a later date at Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells.

Dave was a New Year's Day baby, born on January 1st, 1966 in Portage, WI. He was the oldest son of Clarence "Junie" and Shirley (Larkin) Nelson. He was a WDHS graduate in 1984. He was employed for most of his adult life by Gumz Farms, where he had many duties; as well as helping on the family farm. In the spring of 2010, along with his brother, Tennie; Nelson Brothers Farm was formed, as they became 3rd generation farmers of the Nelson farm, which originally started in 1853. He was a member of the Dells Rifle Club for nearly 25 years, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and fixing on farm equipment and vehicles. He seldom missed a breakfast or lunch at the "Deer Shack," during hunting season each November, and he never turned down a spiked egg nog or Tom & Jerry during holiday gatherings.

David is survived by his siblings Heidi (Mark) Leeck, Genevieve Houston, Tennie Nelson, Tena (Brad) Preissel; a niece Elizabeth (Dylan) Leeck-Wedyke; nephews Noah and Jonah Preissel; family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
