Dawn Rae Baker, age 67, of Lake Delton, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Dawn was born August 21, 1959, in Blue Island, Illinois, the daughter of Barry and Jo Baker. Dawn was a customer service pro for her parents from a very young age, learning early the importance of welcoming people, making them feel at home, and creating lasting memories.
For nearly 40 years, Dawn was the sunshine at Sunset Bay Resort, where she created countless memories with families, guests, and the many people who became part of her life. What began as a place where she worked became a community of people she cared deeply about. Dawn formed lifelong friendships and touched the lives of so many people with her warmth, humor, and genuine love of others.
Dawn was fun-loving, quick-witted, and had a personality that was impossible to forget. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making people laugh. Her bright spirit and love of life made her someone people looked forward to seeing and someone they will never forget.
Dawn was also an active member of her community. She served on the Village Board of Lake Delton, the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Dells Visitor & Convention Bureau, and Music for Meals and supported many other community organizations and causes. She generously gave her time and energy to help make her community a better place.
Above all, Dawn was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved Sunday fundays with family and friends on Lake Delton, loved to travel to beach destinations, especially Key West. She also loved deep sea fishing with her brother John, and other friends.
Dawn is survived by her mother, Jo Baker; daughter, Jillian Devold; granddaughter, Addison Whiteye; sister, Kelly Baker; nephew, Ryan (Sara) Groy; and nieces, Kassie Lederman and Chloe Baker. She was preceded in death by her father, Barry Baker, and her brother, John and nephew Johnny.
A memorial gathering will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., with Words of Remembrance beginning at 4:00 P.M.
