Delores "Doty" DeBaere, age 86, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 at her home.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 28, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells with Father Eric Sternberg celebrating. Delores was born November 13, 1933 in Menasha, Wisconsin the daughter of Lawrence and Helene (Tomaschke) Ziel. In 1952, she graduated from Neenah High School and married Richard DeBaere on July 12 th of that year. Doty was the first in her high school class to be married and the first to have eight children. She even attended their 65 th and last high school reunion with her classmates in Neenah in 2017.
Together with her husband Richard, they owned and operated Red's Steakhouse in Neenah for a few years before moving to Racine where they started Ryva Tackle Company in 1955. The wholesale fishing tackle distributing business soon outgrew the city neighborhood and they moved to be near the future Interstate Highway 41 (now I-94) in 1961. Sometimes there were semi-loads of minnow buckets, tons of lead anchors, flatbeds of aluminum fishing boats or even 10 tons of charcoal briquettes to unload on a daily basis and Doty did her part with unloading, along with purchasing and selling. With her gift of gab, Doty networked her way every time to the president's table at the annual American Fishing Tackle Manufacturers conventions in Chicago or Reno. Doty took over the business operations when Richard retired in 1987. She ran the corporation until 1999 when she retired and they relocated to their second home in Wisconsin Dells.
Delores is survived by her five sons, Dennis, Wisconsin Dells, Donald (Tammy), Wisconsin Dells, David (Gabriele) of Germany, Richard (Ellen), Sturtevant, Daniel (Judes), Mauritius; three daughters, Barbara DeBaere Poppy (Timothy), Wisconsin Dells, Kathryn (Gary) Jenkins of Arizona and Nancy (Michael), Wisconsin Dells; sister, Helen Tress, Wauwatosa; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband Richard in 2002, her parents and her brothers Edward, William and Fritz.
