Dennis E. Zurawski, age 82, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

Dennis was born on July 9, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating high school, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served from 1962 to 1964. In 1969, Dennis married the love of his life, Terrie (Theo) Dunlap. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two sons, Frank and Dan.

In 2009, Dennis retired, and he and Terrie relocated to Metropolis, Illinois. They celebrated 51 years of marriage before Terrie's passing in October 2020.

Dennis cherished the simple joys of life. Every Wednesday, he looked forward to spending time with his dear friends Pam and Mike—sharing stories, enjoying a couple of Old Styles, and cheering on the Cubs.

In February 2025, Dennis moved to Baraboo, Wisconsin, to live with his son and daughter-in-law, Amberlee. During these final months, Dennis had the special opportunity to meet all of his great-grandchildren—a gift that brought a radiant smile to his face.

Dennis was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a kind, generous spirit and was always willing to help others. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the stories we tell—stories filled with laughter, love, and the moments that made him who he was. He will remain in our hearts forever.

He is survived by his son, Dan (Amberlee) Zurawski; daughter-in-law, Liz Zurawski; grandchildren, Zak (Amber) Zurawski, Felicia (Andy) Bollig, Hailey (Jacob) Webb, Cole Zurawski, and Sarah (Caleb) Sorenson; six great-grandchildren, Caiden, Henry, Walker, Kelsey, Harmonie, and Micah; his sister, Mary Kreczmer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Terrie; his son, Frank; and his siblings, Frank Lewandowski and Alice Bochniak.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital for the kindness, respect, and compassion they showed Dennis in his final days. Their support brought comfort during an incredibly difficult time and will never be forgotten.

In honor of Dennis' wishes, there will not be any service. Dennis would rather you go keep his memory alive by telling a story about him - because in every story, his spirit lives on.
