Obituary

Diana "Di" Stomner, age 85, of Wisconsin Dells, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Wisconsin Dells. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Inurnment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.

Di was born on April 11, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to Thomas and Geraldine (Harris) Spohr. She lived her life with determination, curiosity, and faith. Her career began at Time magazine in Chicago, but her journey soon led her to Portage, Wisconsin, where she married the love of her life, raised their young family and where she worked at a shoe factory. Never afraid of new adventures, they later moved west where she built her travel agency business in both Las Vegas and Los Angeles before joining the reservations team at the Bellagio. She also spent joyful years working at Bookworm Haven in Pahrump, Nevada, a bookstore that let her share her lifelong love of reading. When she returned to Wisconsin Dells, she joined Walmart's shoe department, where she found not just coworkers but friends, and she especially cherished her Tuesday morning breakfasts with her "breakfast club."

Di loved learning and sharing knowledge. A passionate history enthusiast, an avid reader, a choir singer, and a loyal Jeopardy! fan, she found joy in both quiet moments and lively gatherings. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, who will carry forward her warmth, humor, and adventurous spirit.

She is survived by her son John (Mindy), daughter Bonnie (Kamal), sister Sally Wilson, and grandchildren Monica, Mitchell, Daryon, and Aryon. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, many dear friends, and her special caregivers Linda and David Matrick, Sue Hammerly, and their family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin; her son, Larry; her parents; and her sister, Patricia.

Di's family extends heartfelt thanks to Jackie, the staff at Our House, and Moments Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.

Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched, and in the stories, laughter, and love she so freely shared.
