Drake Bixby, age 77, of Wisconsin Dells, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Courtyard Cafe on Monday, June 8, 2026 from 3:00 - 5:00 P.M.

Drake was born on March 2, 1949, to George and Doris (Blount) Bixby. From an early age, Drake displayed an exceptional talent for mathematics. While in high school, he earned the Mathematical Association Award in 1966 in recognition of his remarkable abilities.

Music was another important part of Drake's life. During high school, he played drums for The Sleepwalkers, performing at Homecoming in 1967. He later continued his passion for music as the drummer for the band Sympocrasy.

A gifted athlete as well, Drake set several track and field records during his school years. Drake's love for the outdoors was evident throughout his life, including the time he spent serving as a Cub Scout leader. Known for his extraordinary green thumb, Drake built a respected career in the nursery and landscaping industry. His skill with plants helped the House of Kruegar flourish, and over the years he became widely known as "Mr. Green Jeans." He earned the admiration and respect of coworkers, customers across the state, and many students and professors throughout the UW system.

Drake was also an avid trap shooter and hunter who took pride in reloading his own spent casings. He enjoyed collecting a wide variety of items throughout his life, including coins, stamps, and model trains.

Drake formed many meaningful friendships within Native communities, where he shared mutual respect and appreciation. He traveled often to spend time with friends and participate in cultural traditions and gatherings.

Later in life, Drake became an active member of AA and was instrumental in helping many people in their struggles with alcohol addiction. His support, guidance, and encouragement made a lasting difference in the lives of others.

He is survived by his sons, Peter (Tiffany) Bixby and David (Kat) Bixby; his sisters, Julie Bixby-Bayline and Randy Bixby; and his grandson, Nate Sorenson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
