Edgar Ortiz, (Navaho name, Haskyellwoodi, Running Fiercely) age 80 of Baraboo, Wisconsin walked on Monday, June 28, 2021 at his residence with his loved ones by his side.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at the Native American Church in Wisconsin Dells with Henry Whitethunder officiating. Visitation will be held at the Native American Church on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m.

Edgar was born June 9, 1941 in Mentmore, New Mexico the son of James and Alice (Spencer) Ortiz. In August of 1961 he married Amelia Mike in Gallup, New Mexico.

Edgar was a thoughtful man. He was also a quiet man but when he did speak people listened. He spoke with a purpose. He was a great dad and an even better Choka. He was also a hard worker and good provider giving his all for his family.

Edgar is survived by his wife, Amelia; son Eugene; daughters, Lisa and Crystal; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Antawn, Andrew, Anaka, Makayla, Makenzie, Candice and Kelly; brothers, William and Richard; sister, Faye; and favorite niece, Darlene. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey; brothers, Roger and Robert; and a sister, Esther Yazzie.
