Edward C. Muehlfelt, Jr., age 76, of Wisconsin Dells passed away in a woodcutting accident on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at his residence.

A memorial service for Ed will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Walnut Hill Bible Church, Baraboo, WI with Pastor Dan Gunderson presiding. Visitation will take place from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M.

Ed was born on September 10, 1947, in Elgin, Illinois. The son of Edward and Evelyn (Meyer) Muehlfelt, Sr. He married his best friend, Jean Crooks on March 30, 1974 and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary several weeks before Ed's passing. Ed grew up on a mink ranch in Cary, Illinois and learned to work hard and repair anything alongside his dad. He went on to technical school, became a tool and die maker and used that precision and mechanical mentality throughout his entire career. Ed spent most of his life in the construction industry. In the wireless world, he was a senior construction engineer for Primeco and Verizon Wireless. His last 15 years before retirement, he and his wife sold everything and became missionaries for HCJB World Radio (now Reach Beyond). They traveled around the world installing and repairing broadcast radio stations. They were in over 30 countries and enjoyed all the cultural differences and wonderful coworkers along the way.

Ed's journey through life was extraordinary. Most knew him as a gentle missionary and homesteader, a role he embraced with unwavering faith and dedication. However, Ed's earlier chapters in life were filled with daring exploits that defined him as anything but ordinary. From his days as a police officer to his exhilarating adventures as a stock car racer, big game hunter, and as one who scaled television towers a thousand or more feet into the sky, Ed epitomized a life lived to the fullest. His adventurous spirit even led him to share a campfire with the legends Sir Edmund Hillary and Ted Williams. As a faithful friend, co-worker, volunteer, mentor, and elder, Ed's impact resonates deeply with those whose lives he touched. A tree is best measured when it's down... and so it is with people. Ed led a big life and leaves in his absence a big hole. Though his physical presence may be gone, the void is immense, a testament to the amazing life he lived. Ed will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. And given his missionary work, by countless others who did not.

Ed is survived by his wife Jean, his two sons, Chuck and Dave Andrews from a former marriage, his sisters, Pat Bender, Alice Malzahn, and Vivian Cullom, along with nieces, nephews, other family, and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Janet Markee, and Sandy Van de Water.
