Eleonora Dick, age 89, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the Sauk County Health Center in Reedsburg, Wisconsin.

A Funeral Service for Eleonora will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Picha Funeral Home – Lake Delton with Fr. Garrett Kau Celebrating. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. She will be laid to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery following the service.

Eleonora Maria Dick (Neuss) was born in Augsburg, Germany on May 3, 1934. She joined her brother Alfred as the second child of five to be born to Balthazar and Theresa Neuss. It was during World War II, so times were tough for the family. They had to move around often to find safety and provide the family opportunities.  Later Eleonora was joined by three additional siblings, Marianne, Egon and Renate.

In 1955 her family decided to immigrate to the United States. They packed up all of their personal belongings in two large crates and spent two weeks on the ship over the Atlantic Ocean. It was during December that they decided to come over, which made for a rough ride. Upon their arrival they came through Hoboken, NJ. They then took a train to Chicago and settled on the southwest side of Chicago. Not knowing any English, they were forced to go find a job, so Eleonora and her sister Marianne started working at Brach's Candy Company. They would have to take the city bus each day to and from work.  When she was single her and her sister Marianne enjoyed traveling the world.  Some trips they took were to Europe for two months, Mexico for one month and visited several states in the United States.

After working at Brach's for several years she met her now husband, Albert Dick, and they were married in September 1967. They lived for a short time on the north side of Chicago and then settled in Itasca, IL. They lived there until 1994 when they decided to retire up in Wisconsin Dells right on the Wisconsin River, neighboring Eleonora's mother's house.

Although they never had any children, they had many nieces and nephews that filled their hearts with love. Family visited them often to spend vacations and quality time together. Some fond memories the nieces and nephews have are of spending time in the river with Uncle Albert and Aunt Eleonora or "Tante Lore" as we called her. She loved music, especially Elvis Presley, gardening, shopping and just hanging out with the family. She was a fun loving, happy spirited woman.

After her mother, Theresa, got older and couldn't live by herself anymore in her own home, she moved in with Albert and Eleonora, to have them take care of her. Eleonora and Theresa did many things together like shopping, baking, watching TV and movies together and of course Dr visits. Theresa lived with them for 17 years before her passing at the age of 6 months short of 100 years old in 2012.

We had started to notice something was wrong with Eleonora but didn't know what it was. As the symptoms progressed Albert and her went to see Dr's and she was diagnosed with Parkinsons. This disease took over her life. It became too hard for Albert to care for her, so he had to make the hard decision to move her to the nursing home, Sauk County Health Center in Reedsburg, where she has spent the last 8 years.  In the last year she has been in and out of the nursing home and hospital many times due to her condition and complications thereof.

She is survived by her husband Albert Dick, sister Marianne Langenbach, sister-in-law Ursula Dick and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Eleonora is preceded in death by her parents Balthazar Neuss, Theresa Neuss, her brother Alfred Neuss with wife Helga Neuss, brother-in-law Paul Langenbach, brother Egon Neuss with wife Dianne Neuss, and sister Renate Neuss.
