Elsie Helen (Pettera)Roberts, age 80 of Mauston, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Cottage Care Circle in Mauston.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mauston with Father Cruz Diva Karan Iruthayam celebrating. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery. A luncheon will be served in the church basement immediately following the burial. Visitation will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m.
Elsie was born May 22, 1945 in Kendall, Wisconsin the daughter of Francis and Mary (Stepanek) Pettera. She married the love of her life William John Roberts, Sr. on October 1, 1966, and the couple enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. Elsie had a lifelong love of country music. She named her daughter, Loretta, after her all time favorite singer, Loretta Lynn. She enjoyed singing karaoke and the crowds loved her. She was an avid reader with autobiographies being her preference. Elsie and Bill loved traveling to different cities to shop for antiques. She also enjoyed their walks around the neighborhood, oftentimes stopping to chat to the neighbors they were so fond of. She loved spending time with family and friends and joined her husband in his love for the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. She had an amazing spunky spirit and a heart of pure gold. She will be deeply missed.
Elsie is survived by her two sons, William (Tracy) Roberts Jr. and Jeffrey (Alison) Roberts, and a daughter Loretta (Daniel) Roberts. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rachel Kopplin, Ryan Roberts, Brandon Ray, Dylan Ray, Jordan Roberts and Olivia Roberts, along with 3 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Darlene (Donald) Cunitz. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Frances Turnmire, Marguerite Luttig, Joseph Pettera, Rose Morse, Catherine Neff, Lucille Spears, Lavern Pettera and Gertrude Jensen.
