Eugene James "Jim" Sobojinski, loving Husband, Father and Grandfather passed away on April 13, 2021, at age 74 after a 17-year battle with cancer.
Jim was born on December 25, 1946 at St. Mary's Ringling Hospital, Baraboo, Wisconsin to Eugene John "Gene" and Helen Marie (Howley) Sobojinski of the Township of Dellona, Sauk County, Wisconsin
He graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1965 and started college in Whitewater studying accounting until he was drafted by the US Army in 1966. On May 13, 1967, he married his high school sweetheart Cheryl Lee Edgington while on leave from the Army. They resided at Fort Gordon, Georgia and Fort Hood, Texas. While serving in Vietnam, he received R &R in Oahu, Hawaii with Cheryl. Their daughter, Kimberlee, was born in 1968.
He attended the National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, Ohio. He began working for Ted & Fred's and IGA in Viroqua Wisconsin. Son, Eugene John, was born in 1973 in Viroqua. Jim started D & J Meats with Dan Weidenbach where he worked until he and his family moved back to the family farm in Dellona.
Once back home in the Dells area, Jim worked as the Meat Department Manager at Darrow's County Market in Baraboo over 20 years.
Jim worked for his daughter from 1998 to 2004. Afterwards he went on to become the Engineer Director at Sundara Spa until his retirement in 2014. Of course, he was bored being retired and worked for Wilderness Resort for 3 summers.
He proudly served his community as a volunteer fire fighter with the Delton Fire Department for 10 years. He was also Fire Chief from 1993- 1994.
Jim loved hunting, taxidermy, woodworking and especially fishing. He was known for his easy going relaxed nature, boundless love and patience, and gladly always helped friends and family in anyway he could.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Eugene, mother, Helen, mother-in-law Georgia Lee Carter Edgington Anderson, brother-in-law Curt Henry.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl. His two children, Kimberlee (Waldemar) Czuprynko and Eugene John (Tammy) Sobojinski; four beautiful granddaughters, Zofia Marie Czuprynko, Darriane Rebecca, Miranda Rose, and Kayla Rae Sobojinski; sisters Shirley Henry, Diana (Gary) Fish and brother, Gerald "Jerry" (Renee) Sobojinski, several cousins, nieces, nephews and uncle Robert "Bob" Howley.
