Obituary

Frank Bollig, age 87, of Mauston, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Tomah Memorial Hospital in Tomah, Wisconsin.

The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mauston with Father Eric Burns celebrating. Visitation will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:30 a.m. followed by interment at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post #81 and the VFW McEvoy-Miller Post #2114. A luncheon to follow will be served in the church basement.

Frank was born March 26, 1939, in Mauston, Wisconsin, the son of Mathew and Mary (Blanchard) Bollig. He had attended high school in Mauston and enlisted in the U.S. National Guard at the age of 17 and transferred to active duty, serving 2 years in Germany and was deployed to the Cuban Missile Crises and later was honorably discharged. He had married Donna Geissler on January 27, 1961, in Caledonia, Minnesota and married again on April 21, 1961 at Ft. Stewart, Georgia.

Following the military, the married couple returned to Mauston and Frank worked at the Mauston Farmers Co-op where he primarily drove truck transporting feed and fertilizer during the planting seasons until his retirement. Frank will be remembered for being a dedicated and hard working man with a heart of gold.

Frank is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Victor (Debby); daughters, Debbie Menominee, Jacqueline Wolfe, Maxine Horton, Cindy Bollig (Darren Green) and Sharon Gulvik; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; a sister, Joan Babcock; brother-in-law, Danny Geissler; and sisters-in-law, Janet Held and Debbie (Gary) McDonald.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons in law, Joe Wolfe and Roger Horton; brothers, Mathew, Pete, Leo, Paul and Tom; sisters, Frances, Mary, Cook, Josephine and Florence; 5 brothers in law, 4 sisters in law and parents in law, Raymond and Arlene Geissler.
