Geraldine "Gerry" Potter, 89, of Lyndon Station, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the Dells Delton Methodist Church in Wisconsin Dells at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Lee Bushweiler officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at Noon.
Born May 26, 1936, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Martin and Florence (Willison) Peters, Gerry pursued a lifelong passion for education. She earned her undergraduate degree in special education and art from Western State University. After earning her master's degree at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, she continued her post graduate studies in reality therapy at University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point.
Gerry dedicated her career to special education in the Wisconsin Dells School District. She retired in 1997 after decades of helping students thrive and creating programs that left a lasting impact on the community. She was known for her patience, creativity, and unwavering belief in the potential of every child. Gerry's passion for community was also demonstrated in her service work. She was a proud Kiwanis International member for over 35 years of which she served as President for multiple terms. Gerry also served the VFW Women's Auxiliary of Lyndon Station. She found a strong community through her years of dedication at the Wisconsin Dells Methodist Church and women's group.
Gerry had a taste for life centering intention with every step she took. She travelled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. She took pride in her home, cooking for loved ones, and her gardens. For Gerry, any moment could be exciting from a show in Las Vegas to an impromptu picnic with her grandchildren. To be seen by Geraldine Potter was to be loved, honored, and supported.
She is survived by her son, Francis Mark Potter; daughter, Pamela Potter-Dickerson; 4 grandchildren, Gregg Potter, Jacqueline (Ryan) Vaught, Katie (Jon) Potter-Blackburn, Megan (Peter) Henderson and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frances W. "Took" Potter, and her grandson, James Dickerson, special friend and longtime companion, Rue Bork; baby girl Mary Jo Potter, and Mike Dickerson; sisters, Grace Moonie, Gretchen (Bob) Estes; brother Gerald Potter (Alice). She is further survived by Harold (Hilda) Potter, Ida (Robert) Carey, Clayton (Dora) Potter, Jerry (Kathleen) Potter, Fern (Ralph) Corton, Mary Ann (Cliff) Crosby, Beathal Johnson, Robert Potter and many nieces and nephews.
Gerry's warmth, wisdom, and generosity touched everyone she met, and her legacy lives on through the students she inspired and the family she nurtured with love.
