Glenn Chambers, age 66 years young of Portage, Wisconsin passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the Madison Veterans Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, Wisconsin from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a moment of Meaningful Words from the family at 1:00. Military honors will be provided following the gathering.  A luncheon will be provided at the local VFW following the memorial.

Glenn was born December 5, 1958 in Neilsville, Wisconsin the son of Marvin and Gloria (Erdman) Chambers. He was the youngest of 3 siblings.  To hear him tell it he was of course "the best one".  Glenn's sister Connie thinks he may "embellish a bit".  Glenn shared many great stories of his childhood.  He hated wearing shoes, loved friends and family, fishing, hunting and stirring up trouble.  Glenn went on to join the Army's 101st Airborne where he was then injured.  He continued on with his life, creating a beautiful family and worked with GTE until his retirement.  Glenn never let his disabilities get the best of him.  He referred to it as the "Chamber's Grit".  He had plenty of it and lived life to its fullest no matter what challenge or battle he was up against.

Glenn had a smile and a handshake for everyone he met.  His son Joshua always commented "Dad talks to anyone and everyone".   We called it "Dad Skill", and we all wanted in on it.   When you met Glenn, you knew right away that you had met one of the truly 'Good Guys'. You couldn't be around Glenn without laughing, feeling better about your day or yourself. He was witty, funny, loving and genuinely kind. Glenn was a simple, salt of the earth kind of guy.  He was the Dr. Doolittle of animals who were all drawn to him and grandbabies running past Grandma to get to Grandpa first. Glenn had a way of drawing you in, loving you, teaching you and comforting you.  Nothing was too big of a problem or issue and he was always optimistic about everything.

To be loved by Glenn would often mean you have a nickname from him. He had a wonderful way with words that seem to be common Chamber's language now in the family.  He was a "Jack of all trades" and a "Master in unconditional love".  He enjoyed many hobbies like fishing, hunting, sports, camping and his Harley.  He loved woodworking and shooting pool. The common thread for Glenn was the company he got to keep when doing the things he enjoyed. Glenn in his core believed in God, Family and Country.  He was firm in his faith and loved spending time with his kids talking about scripture.  He was a patriot through and through.  He was so very very proud of his children and grandchildren.  He felt blessed to watch the kids and their families grow and had a deep sense of awe in the amazing adults they have become. Glenn loved and was loved. Truly, Madly and Deeply. We will miss this wonderful man and cherish him always.  His legacy lives on in the 'Grit', the 'nick-names', the Chamber's language, the Good guys, and the 'Dad Skill'. Cheers to the best Good Guy we could have shared our lives with. Until we meet again.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife Tonia, sons, Ryan (Katie) Rasmussen, Logan Chambers (Nicole), Jason (Amber) Chambers, Jesse (Mandy) Chambers, Dustin Chambers (Heather) and Joshua Chambers (Billy); daughter Penny Chambers (Mike). He is further survived by his sister, Connie (Bob) Burns along with numerous grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Daniel and brother Don.

The family would like to thank the Veterans Memorial Hospital for all the years of caring for Glenn.  The outpouring of love for Glenn and support for our family was irreplaceable.  Special thanks to Hematology, Dr. Callander and Dr. Fletcher, all of the Infusion Nurses, Kaylen and at the end, Hospice with Dr. Schaller and our rock, Nancy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made out to the Wounded Warriors Project in Glenn's honor.
