Obituary

Ina Mae Storandt, age 88, of Madison, WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2023.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Matthew Gehrke officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells.

Ina Mae was born on May 5, 1934, in New Haven Township, Wisconsin, to William and Bertha (Leege) Storandt. She graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1952 having served as class president. Her educational journey then extended on to the former Madison Business College where she excelled. The launch of her long and storied career in the financial services industry began on September 21, 1953 with her hiring by The Equitable Life Assurance Society of New York. The first decade of her career was time well-spent as she functioned in a variety of administrative roles allowing her to hone her skills for what was to come. Her devout work ethic, reliability, humility and attention to detail caught the attention of upper management. Having just attained the ripe old age of thirty, she was elevated to the role of Agency Operations Manager for Equitable as the company made the decision to increase their business presence in Madison with the formation of an inaugural regional office. Her professional responsibilities encompassed serving many insurance and financial services professionals throughout the State of Wisconsin. She would operate in this highly impactful role for the remainder of her forty-five year Equitable career.

Shortly after turning sixty-five, Ina Mae retired from Equitable and immediately joined her long-time colleagues, Tom and Pat Poehling, in business. In a new financial services industry role, Ina Mae worked closely with many individual and organization clients while helping to sow the seeds of what would become Poehling Capital Management. At an age when most people have already retired or are slowing down, Ina Mae was moving forward "full steam ahead"! Her daily presence was largely responsible for allowing the company to steadily grow over her twenty years at the firm. Ina Mae will be sorely missed as she was considered another family member and their appreciation of her was immense. Ina Mae had a close group of lifelong friends who she enjoyed having dinner, attending concerts/plays, golfing, shopping and embarking on travel tours with. She was a long-time member of the Madison Civics Club and especially enjoyed the many speaker events sponsored by the organization. In addition, she enjoyed her many church friends and time of worship at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison. Ina Mae is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Walter (Dorothy), Homer (Lavina), Earl, and Erwin Storandt; sisters, Geraldine Hesler (Frank), Mabel Sullivan (Parker), Irene Storandt-Dean, Betty Worm (Dale) and two nephews.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation toward Ina Mae's many Caregivers these past few years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Ina Mae name to either Agrace Hospice (Madison, WI) or Trinity Lutheran Church (Wisconsin Dells, WI).
