Jack A. Capelle, age 74, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

Jack was born on October 11, 1949 in Sheboygan, the son of Waldemar and Clara (Schweig) Capelle. He married Jill Paske on September 22, 1973, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage last fall. There will be a service at Woodland Cemetery in Kohler for immediate family and closest friends at 11 am on Friday, September 6th. A celebration of Jack's life will take place on Sunday, September 8th at the Kalahari Resort Convention Center in the Dells, and all are welcome to visit at any time from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Jack grew up in Kohler, earning the Eagle Scout rank and playing multiple sports for the Blue Bombers. He left to attend UW-Stout, where he lettered in basketball and met Jill. After college, Jack and Jill moved to Wisconsin Dells and made a home on the farm. He taught Tech Ed, coached the Chiefs, and raised three boys. In retirement, Jack also coached at UW-Oshkosh and Barneveld.

Jack had several sanctuaries. In the WDHS gymnasium, he built a basketball program from the youth level to the varsity, culminating in a WIAA state championship. At the farm, he loaded hay bales in the summers and deer hunted in the fall with family. Up North, family and friends gathered at the lake cabin to swim, boat, fish, and relax. The auto shop was his classroom and where he tinkered on Hudson cars. Whether you knew him as Mr. Capelle, Coach Capelle, Jack, dad, or grandpa, he cared for his students, players, fellow coaches and teachers, friends, and family.

Jack is survived by his wife Jill; sons Jeffrey (Nicole), Jesse, and James (Brianna); grandchildren Grant, Garett, Madeline, Jack, Maxwell, and Noah; sisters Judith Kummer and Janine Capelle; sister-in-law Sharel (Richard) Bakken; and nephews Bret (Tina) and Rob Kummer, Michael (Holly) Bakken, and Thomas and Walter Trutna. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jeffrey, step-mother Julia, parents-in-law Willard and Merna Paske, brother-in-law Robert Kummer, and nephew Kurt Kummer.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Clare's, St. Mary's, and the Wisconsin Dells Heath Services and Rehabilitation Center.
