James Michael Filiatrault, 78, of Montello, Wisconsin, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 30, 2026, at the Columbia Health Care Center, Wyocena.

Jim was born March 1,1948 to Robert and Myrtle (Bethke) Filiatrault in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Boys' Technical School in Milwaukee in 1966. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for four years, achieving the rank of Third Class Petty Officer as an Electricians Mate, serving aboard the USS Higbee (DD-806) for three years. His service time included two Western Pacific deployments to Vietnam (1968 and 1969).

Jim enjoyed being an electrician—a profession he learned while in high school as seen from his career pattern-Navy service (3 yrs.), Southern California Edison Company (9 yrs.), and Wisconsin Power & Light Company [now called Alliant Energy] (23 yrs.). Jim retired from this career after developing Parkinson's Disease.

Jim married Donna Vanderbilt in Anaheim, California, on October 2, 1970. They celebrated 55 years of marriage – being blessed with three children: Timothy, Carlone, and Daniel. His children were the joy of his life, investing himself in their lives. He was a very loving husband and father. He enjoyed fishing at times with his sons and other family members. Above all, Jim was dedicated to his faith in Christ, serving as an elder to care for the Body of Christ.

Jim is survived by his wife, Donna, and his youngest son, Daniel; three brothers, Paul, Patrick (Bonnie) and Philip (Meg) Filiatrault; three grandsons, Luke (Kenzie), Micah, and Simon, and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Filiatrault; brothers-in-law, Stephen (Kazuko), David (Jennifer), James (Jean) Vanderbilt; additionally, nephews, nieces, and a host of friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his children, Timothy and Carlone Filiatrault, his parents, his parents-in-law, and a sister-in-law.

He will be deeply missed by this family and friends especially those who cared for him at Columbia Health Care Center. Many thanks to all the nurses, CNAs, and other providers who took special care of him every day.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Grace Bible Church in Portage (2939 County Rd CX) on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the service time. The interment will be at Village of Oxford Cemetery, Oxford. Military honors will be included.
