Obituary

Jay Olsen (aka Jaybird), age 70, of Lake Delton, Wisconsin flew into the waiting arms of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at St. Clare Meadows in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, Wisconsin with Pastor Mark Hunter officiating. Visitation will follow the service until 12:00 Noon.

Jay was born August 3, 1950 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Vince and Myrtle (Jamison) Olsen. From age 3, Jay spent many summers at Camp JIM (Jesus Is Mine) in Brainerd, MN, and eventually became a camp counselor. He had the privilege of leading many young boys to the Lord as their Savior. Jay also attended Bethany Fellowship in Bloomington, MN in the early 1970s. He went to North Pole, Alaska, to finish his last year by working on a mission compound. There he became interested in broadcasting the Gospel over the ocean to Russia and other countries and learned how to operate the controls at KJNP (King Jesus North Pole) radio station. Jay was also a radio announcer for WPDR radio in Portage, WI for several years. After that he worked at Walmart in Portage in the electronics department and finished his working career with 10 years at Lands' End in Reedsburg taking phone orders.

Jay met the love of his life, Corinne, in 1986 and they married on May 9, 1987. They loved to take rides on roads all over Wisconsin just to see where they went. They made it a tradition to ride the Merrimac ferry every year. Jay loved Gospel Bluegrass music along with many of the old hymns of the faith. He also loved playing many games with family and all would laugh until their sides hurt. Jay was a faithful member of any church he attended, and most recently at Dells Baptist. He never hesitated to give a testimony of what God was doing in his life.

We ask that you respect others wishes to social distance and to also wear a mask when you attend the service and visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any memorial donations made out to the Dells Baptist Church.
