Jill Ann Porzel, age 83, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 25, 2026, at Our House Memory Care.

A memorial service and meal will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 p.m. at the Portage Presbyterian Church (120 W. Pleasant St. Portage, Wisconsin). A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A cemetery service will follow at 1:00 pm at Silver Lake Cemetery on Cemetery Rd. in Portage Wisconsin.

Jill was born on August 2, 1942, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of John and Anna (Soderstrom) Benson. She married Jim Porzel in 1966 in Rockford, Illinois, and they shared 31 years of marriage until his passing in 1997 following a heart attack.

Jill was a devoted mother to her only son, Gerry Porzel, and cherished the time she spent with her family. She enjoyed taking car trips and visiting Ho-Chunk, finding joy in simple moments with loved ones.

She graduated from Illinois State University and worked as a teacher for 10 years, teaching 4th through 6th grade in Streamwood, Illinois. In 1989, Jill, Jim, and Gerry moved from Geneva, Illinois, to Portage, Wisconsin. Jill became deeply involved in Portage Presbyterian Church, where she faithfully volunteered for over 20 years as a deacon, choir member, and Meals on Wheels volunteer. She also generously gave her time serving meals at funeral gatherings.

Jill will be dearly missed by her son, Gerry Porzel of Madison, Wisconsin; her niece, Karen Benson; her nephews, Kirk Benson and Craig Benson, along with their wives and children; her brother-in-law Bill and sister-in-law Diana Porzel and their family; and her sister-in-law Carol Koch and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Jim Porzel.

Jill's kindness, dedication to others, and love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jill's honor to Portage Presbyterian Church, 120 W. Pleasant St., Portage, WI 53901.
