John A. Sharpee, age 76, of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin was a loving husband, father, devoted outdoors man, and most importantly the world's best poppy, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 19, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial service for John will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 3:00 pm at the Picha Funeral Home in Wisconsin Dells, WI (321 Washington Ave.) with Pastor Joseph Doegen presiding. Military Honors will be held following the service outside of the funeral home. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm.
John was born on December 7, 1947 in Wisconsin. The son of Alexander and Gladys (Holman) Sharpee. John proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he demonstrated immense bravery and dedication to his country. His service was a testament to his strength and unwavering commitment to protecting others, values that he carried into every aspect of his life.
He was a true "Jack of All Trades" and did just about everything. He married his best friend love of his life on November 24, 1984 and they cherished 39 years of marriage. He was a man of great warmth and positivity, who cherished every moment spent with his daughters teaching them about the wonders of outdoors and the values of life. John found joy in fishing and hunting, not just as hobbies, but as a special bonding times filled with laughter and stories. One of the fond memories that his family hold dear is the tradition of preparing and enjoying lutefisk together, a dish that brought everyone together with its unique flavor and the stories that accompanied it.
John is survived by his loving wife Jean, his daughters Heidi (Brian) Kerr, Holly (Nick) Pfeffer, and Heather (Paul) Jeske. He is also survived by his brothers Alan (Janey) Sharpee and Tom (Jeanne) Sharpee, sister Mary (Steve) Purves, father-in-law David Howe and most importantly his grandchildren; Haillie Ann, Noah, Tara, Alexander, Saige, Lily, and Ivy and his great-grandchildren; Liam and Annalynn. He is proceeded in death by his parents and mother-in-law MaryLou Howe.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate team at St. Croix hospice especially Jessica and Chelsey for their exceptional care and support during John's final days.
His legacy lives on in the cherished memories and life lessons he imparted to his family. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his love, wisdom, and the special moments shared in nature.
