Obituary

Haap Hamaani- "Walks By Day" aka Joshua P. Funmaker of Madison, WI walked on August 2, 2025.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00. He will be buried at the Indian Heights Cemetery following the service.

He was gifted to us on November 17, 1993. Throughout his life he had many jobs, but the only one he took seriously, was being a Kunu. His dedication to being a good brother, son, father, and uncle led him to a wide range of hobbies like gaming, singing, drawing, and anything outdoors. Haap Hamaani also occasionally liked to run by night. He was always ready to be a road warrior, it didn't matter if it was a pow wow, basketball tournament, medicine dance, or just a family adventure. He was always ready to go and might even sing you a song on the way. He was a good Hoocak jokester that could tease with the best of them. He was quick to crack a smile, lend a hand or just be kind. He fell in love with our traditional way of life when he was just a little boy & carried that love with him in the way he lived and treated others.

He is survived by his loving mother Audrey Goodbear, cherished sisters, Gina Funmaker & Rita Peters (Donovan Collins) and beloved brother, Roy Goodbear. Josh was a proud Funmaker and Bear Clan member with relatives too numerous to name. He is further survived by his Naanis, Jaajis, Cuuwi, Gaaga's, and Cooka's which includes our Hoocak kinship system.
