Kathryn 'Katie" Jane MacKenzie (Eifert), age 55, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 20, 2024, after a courageous battle with Muscular Dystrophy.
Services celebrating Katie's life will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Lake Delton, WI, with Chaplain Fred Schumacher officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m.
Katie was born on February 19, 1968 in Milwaukee, WI. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Beverly Eifert (Erdman) Eifert and identical twin to her late sister, Kristin (Eifert) Kraftzenk. On October 16, 1999, she married Sean MacKenzie. They had two daughters, Haileyanne MacKenzie and Iva Andonovska. Katie graduated from Washington Park High School and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Carroll College. Pursuing her passion for helping children, she was a teacher at Head Start in Beaumont, TX. When her family relocated, Katie served as a board member for Children's Home Aid in Rockford, IL and helped coordinate fundraisers (Christmas Holiday House and Jazz at the Rock). Through her work, she won a Gold Award for the Helping Hands, Healing Hearts Project for Children "Hands are Not for Hitting." Katie's hobbies included acting, singing, reading, camping and travel.
Katie is survived by her mother, husband, and daughters; brother, Dan (Tricia) Eifert;
brothers-in-law, David Kraftzenk, Peter (Trudy) MacKenzie, Donald (Penny) MacKenzie and Dale (Avis) MacKenzie; sister-in-law, Karen MacKenzie (Patrick) Lonsway; nieces: Autumn Eifert, Jaymi MacKenzie, Megan Lonsway; nephews: Austin (RaeAnne) Eifert, Ryan Eifert, Zachary Eifert, Mark (Brittany) MacKenzie, Donald MacKenzie, Nicholas (Katherine) Lonsway as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her father and sister, she was proceeded in death by her grandparents, Marvin and Alma Erdman, and John and Gertrude Eifert as well as her father and mother-in-law, Donald and Gillian MacKenzie.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or American Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals.
