Obituary

Lorraine Lu Holm, age 97 formerly of Lyndon Station, WI, passed away peacefully Friday, November 24, 2023, at Fairview surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Lyndon Station, WI with Rev. Alan Boeck officiating. Visitation will be held at Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station, WI on Thursday, November 30th from 5:30 - 7:30 and Friday, December 1st at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00. Burial will be at Lyndon Station Village Cemetery following the Funeral. The family invites you to a luncheon at the Church following the Burial.

Lorraine was born June 16, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI the daughter of Emery and Violet (Strope) Blanchette. She and her five siblings grew up in Milwaukee. On June 29th, 1946 in Chicago, she married the love of her life Howard. They raised their four kids in Portage where Lorraine was a Nurse at the Portage Hospital and Howard owned a DX Service Station. They also lived in Lodi, Poynette, Cherry Valley, Rockford and then in 1967 the family moved to Lyndon Station where they called home. They owned The Little Acre in Lyndon Station for nearly 20 years. After it burned down Lorraine continued working as she enjoyed serving people. She worked as a cook at Upham woods, a hostess at Pizza Pub and on Friday nights would be found in the kitchen preparing her famous Little Acre fish fry and corn fritters. She deeply enjoyed her final job working the concessions at the Crystal Grand in Lake Delton. She had a large collection of pictures along side the performers. She loved sharing those concerts and stories with her friends and family. Lorraine had many talents including ceramics, painting and knitting, not to mention she was a wonderful cook and baker, hosting many family dinners and always making everyone Christmas cookie platters. She had a green thumb and canned her garden harvest each year. She was an excellent bowler, bowling a ladies all time high game of 265 in Janesville. Lorraine was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 5970 in Lyndon Station and a woman of strong faith. She and Howard were parishioners at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Lyndon Station since 1966. She devoted her time helping in the kitchen and as the treasurer for many years. She was a loving wife, mom, daughter, sister, grandma and auntie greeting you with arms open for a hug. She was an avid Brewers and Packers fan and didn't miss a game if it could be helped. Lorraine lived the last five years in Fairview Nursing Home where she was treated like family and lived and laughed every day right up to the end with a strong mind and heart.

Lorraine is survived by her sons; Thomas of Colorado, Robert (Linda) of Mauston; son-in-law Wayne Parkin; sisters-in-law; May Blanchette, Pearl Blanchette, Arlene Burkhardt and Edith Holm; brother-in-law, Arne (Barb) Holm; grandchildren, Aron Holm, Chelsea (Mark) Hilderbrand, Chad (Katie) Holm, Bobbi (Robert) Southworth, Dennis (Rachel Renfrow) Holm, Lisa (Brian) Craker, David (Christine) Wartner, Dawn (Gary) Petersen, Denice (Addison) Knopps, Diana (Gary) Mirr, Danielle (Dan) Stima. She is further survived by 19 Great-Grandchildren including Stephanie Miner, Jena and Bryant Southworth, Kyle, Katlyn, Ember, Justin and Corey Holm, Cade and Myers Hilderbrand; 8 Great-Great-Grandchildren including: Violet Holm, Colt Miner, many nieces, nephews, her special friend, Jill Nielsen and many loving staff past and present at Fairview.

She is preceded in death by her parents and stepmother Nellie; husband, Howard; son Roy, daughter Trudy Parkin, stepdaughters; JoAnn Holm and Sharon (Max) Stima; granddaughter Lori Dobratz; brothers; Richard (Arlene) Blanchette, Thomas Blanchette, Robert Blanchette, Emery Blanchette, sister Marie (Bernard) Szolwinski; brothers-in-law/sisters-in-law; Gladys (Elmer) Westphal, Helen (Herbie) Genke, Dale (Edta) Holm, Lyle (Claire) Holm, Donnie Holm, Earl (Lorraine) Holm.
