Obituary

Marcianne Nichols, age 72 of Baraboo, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Matt Gehrke officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with luncheon to follow.

Marci was born June 4, 1953 in Perry, Iowa the daughter of Marion and Beulah (Wicks) Nichols. Marci was raised in the Fremont, NE area where she graduated from Fremont High School. She attended business school at Lincoln School of Commerce. Marci moved to Wisconsin Dells in 1979, and then to The Meadows in Baraboo in 2022. She spent her career in secretarial and administrative roles and truly loved it. No one typed faster or did shorthand better than Marci. She loved working with the people she encountered throughout her day.

Marci deeply loved her children and grandchildren which brought such great joy to her life. She never missed big events for them and was always their biggest supporter in all things. She is known by friends and family to always send a card and never forget a birthday or life event.

Marci was a wonderful piano player, she spent many years as the choir piano player at Trinity, played for church services (sometimes even the organ), and even played at a couple weddings. If you ever walked into Marci's house on a random day, you were often met with sounds of her playing.

When asking people what their favorite thing about Marci was, it is a resounding "her kindness, smile, quick wit, and listening ear." She accepted and loved you for you with zero judgment. The world lost an incredibly beautiful soul and friend.

We would like to express our deepest, heartfelt gratitude to Theresa and Marla for their unwavering friendship and support as well as the nurses and staff at the Meadows; especially Brooklyn, Hannah, Tina, and Deb.

She is survived by her son Matthew Hamburg; daughter Melissa (Matthew) Kingsley; brother Steve (Valerie) Nichols; sister Nancy (Rich) Russo along with 4 grandchildren; Chase Hamburg, Rylee Hamburg, Desmond Kingsley, and Lillianna Kingsley as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

She is preceded by her parents, infant sister Kathy, sister Vickie, and niece Jill. I am sure they are all together having an amazing time shopping for shoes while Nick follows them with the shopping bags – as happy as can be.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in her honor to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation https://give.cff.org/wisconsin/donate?rbref=homepage
