Apr 23, 1935 — May 28, 2025
Baraboo
Marilyn Lenora (Zuehls) (Sommerfeldt) Calderon, age 90, passed peacefully on May 28, 2025 at Oak Park Place in Baraboo, WI.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells, WI with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Matt Gehrke officiating. A Christian burial will follow, with a graveside service at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake, WI at 2:00 PM on the same day.
Marilyn was born on April 23, 1935, in Town of St. Marie, WI, to Arnold Zuehls and Lenora (Bierman) Zuehls. Marilyn was a true woman of God; she lived her life abiding by and trusting in God's will. She was a great mother and loving wife. She was a true and caring woman, giving much and asking little. Marilyn loved to crochet. All her children's homes have at least one of her afghans and dishcloths. Many of her grandchildren were also recipients of crocheted items until arthritis and declining eyesight took over. Marilyn loved to be with family. If 2 or more family were around, she was playing Yahtzee or card games. Even as age crept in, she found joy in the happiness of others even when she couldn't participate. Marilyn spent most of her years as a bookkeeper, working at such places as Speed Queen in Ripon while also doing the books for husband Marvin's business. She retired as a bookkeeper for Wisconsin Dairies Coop (now Foremost Farms) in Baraboo. She also volunteered her skills at her church in Wisconsin Dells for several years after retiring.
Marilyn is survived by her 8 children, "her boys" Marvin (Seri) Jr. of Sealy, TX, Montgomery (Shari) of Tallahassee, FL, Markham of Lake Delton, WI, Matthew (Monika) of Oakwood Hills, IL and Myles of Madison, WI and daughters, Monica (Mark) Lewis of Eau Claire, WI, Mona (Lawrence) Gardiner of Pittsburgh, PA, and Michele of Green Lake, WI. She is also survived by her sister, Corinne Thiele of FL and brother, Arnold (Barbara) Zuehls Jr. of WI. As the matriarch of a large family, she is further survived by 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Marvin Sommerfeldt Sr. and Alberto Calderon and grandchildren, Ian Sommerfeldt and Ben Gardiner as well as her sister, Dianne.
