Obituary

Mary Jane Golz, age 93, of Wisconsin Dells, WI, passed away on July 9, 2026, after a peaceful vigil by her beloved family.

A memorial mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026 at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with Father Paul Ugo Arinze celebrating. Visitation to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 3:30 - 6:00 PM at Redd's Piano Bar and Lounge at the Kalahari in Lake Delton, WI.

Mary was born on October 10, 1932, in Grand Marsh, WI, the daughter of Stanley and Edna (Morgan) Wagner. Mary grew up on the family farm, the oldest of 5 children. She attended Adams Friendship High School and got her teaching degree from UW Stevens Point. She worked at Wenk's Bowling Alley in Wisconsin Dells during the summers. It was there that she met the love her life, Vearn Golz, who she married in 1955. Together, they raised their 4 children on Bowman Road, the home she remained in until the time of her death. Mary stayed home to raise her 4 children when they were young. Her children had an idyllic childhood home that became a gathering place for the neighborhood kids, families and friends.

Mary returned to teaching when her children were older, and shared her skills and life learned knowledge of home economics and child development with many students in the Dells school district. Former students often reminisced with her about the lifelong skills they learned in her classes.

Mary volunteered throughout her life, and passed on these values of service to church, school and community to her family. As a testament to her devotion to the Dells area, Mary was most proud and honored to be named the 2023 Wo-Zha-Wa Parade Marshall. She loved all Wisconsin sports but her favorite games and activities to watch were those that involved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Spending time with her family whether in her home, the family cottage or the Beachcomber were times cherished by Mary and all those who loved her.

Mary is dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her family; children, Wayne (Sue) Golz, Teresa Pederson, Cathy (Steve) Borck and Susan Golz; grandchildren, Andrea (Jeff Konkel) Klitzke, Tara (Dan) Anchor, Brook (Katie) Klitzke, Lewis Borck, Kori Vernon, Aaron (Tiffany) Golz, Joe (Hannah) Pederson, Domonique Golz, Morgan Pederson and Samantha Borck; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Hailey, Maya, Zoe, Lyndsey, Margo, Aaliyah, Olivia, Avrie, Sonny, Jameson, Hudson, Emery and Mya; along with her sister-in-law Maggie Wagner, nieces and nephews and many other family members whose lives she touched.

She will be heavenly reunited with her husband, Vearn; her parents, her siblings and many more loving family and friends.
