Obituary

Melvin Edward Day, age 68, of Lyndon Station, WI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 8, 2021, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hillsboro, WI.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Conway-Picha Funeral Home in Lyndon Station. Afterward, a "Celebration of Life" will be held at 711 Hog Island Rd, in New Lisbon. Bring your own beverage of choice and "Celebrate Mel" the way he wanted to be. With a party.

Mel was born on February 7, 1953 in Portage, WI, the son of Mildred and Charles Day. He grew up in Lyndon Station and Lyndon was where he made his home. He had his own circle of friends and kept them all his life. He loved Lyndon and Lyndon loved Mel. He belonged to multiple gun clubs, loved to hunt, fish and just be with his friends. He also donated what he could to multiple events for others and was a sucker for any child who came to his door selling something. He especially loved girl scout cookie time.

Mel is survived by his brother, Charles Day (Patricia), his daughter, Katherine Day (Ross) and his nephews, Daniel Day (Char), Brian Day (Melissa) and Todd Day.

The family would like to give a special thank you to his friend Nicole Clark, for all the care, help and love she showed him after his accident. Her assistance was greatly appreciated.

Finally, thank you to Elroy Health Services for the many years of care he received and also the nurses, especially nurse practitioner, Michelle at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Hillsboro. We couldn't have asked for a more kind and loving group of people to transition him through his end of life.
