Nancy Johnson, age 94 of Grand Marsh, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Thursday, December 19, 2024 at her home.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Jan 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Beginnings Christian Community Church (W7220 County Road E, Westfield, WI). with Pastor Terry Temanson officiating. There will be a small luncheon to follow the service, please bring a dish to pass.

Nancy was born April 23, 1930 in Westfield, Wisconsin, the daughter of Bruce and Lorinda (Scheible) Hamilton. She married Thorsten Johnson Jr (Johnson Plumbing and Heating) in January 1950, after graduating from UW Stout with a degree in Home Economics and Child Care. She was a stay-at-home mom to her four children, also providing in-house childcare for several families in and around the Westfield area. When Marquette County Child Protective Services called and asked if she would be interested in operating a day-care, she happily agreed. It was located in the EUB Church and operating hours aligned with the shift work at Brakebush Brothers.
Nancy was active with the Marquette County 4-H and proudly operated the 4-H Food stand in Westfield. This was where, with her dear friend (Margaret Rogers), the Barbecue Sandwiches came from. She prepared 500 pounds of ground chuck with all the other ingredients the week before the fair. Her biggest fear was running out of any of the food/drinks/ice cream, etc. She was complimented about these her entire life. We know some people who only came to the fair for those tasty Barbecue's. Nancy was also active with the Special Needs programs, back as far as the 1960's & 1970's. She was the Food Director, working with Louise Fritchler and Ramona Zelinski, for their two weeks of "camp".
Nancy was an active member of the EUB Church, which later became United Methodist Church but later joined the New Beginnings Christian Community Church of Westfield. She always said, "I was there in the very beginning and I'll be there in the end." Omi's Hard Candy was a huge hit at Christmas time and sold exclusively at NBCCC during Taste N Tour.
Nancy is survived by her children, Robin (Debby) of Westfield, Timothy (Betty Jean) of Oxford, Jenifer (Gary) Dillman of Westfield, and Kristin (Robert) Bengsch of Grand Marsh, WI. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren - Abby, Kimberly, Rachel, Leslie, Amy, Tom, Jeremiah, Jeremy, Jacob, Sallie, Timothy and Messiah; 19 great-grandchildren - Alissa, Katelyn, Lydia, Braidy, Izaiah, Emalie, Aivah, Stina, Christopher, Thorsten, Kayla, McKenna, Tessa, Ella, Even, Angelina, Julius, Emma, Ian; and 4 great-great-grandchildren - Nevaeh, Moxen, Karsyn, and Aubrey. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Thorsten Johnson Jr.; brothers Jack, Ray and James Hamilton and sister Susan Hastie; her oldest granddaughter Amy (Dillman) Farr; and both sons-in-law, Gary (Jeni) Dillman and Mark (Kristin) Wettstein.
