Nona Delores (Griffin) Cox, age 92, of Reedsburg, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be planned in the spring.

Nona (Noni) was born on June 14, 1933  to Wilmer and Marion (Buzzell) Griffin of Doylestown, WI. She grew up in Wyocena and moved with her family to Chicago, IL when she was 15. Noni married James Cox and they raised their family in a bustling city neighborhood surrounded by many friends and family. After their daughters left the family home, they moved back to Portage WI to be closer to Noni's extended family. They owned Ye Happy Belly Bar & Grill and became an integral part of the Portage community. When Jim passed in 1995, Noni worked at Lakeside Foods in Poynette WI. Once retired, Noni moved to Reedsburg to be closer to her daughters.

Noni lived a very active life. She enjoyed fishing, softball, curling, horseshoes, bowling, card playing (Euchre especially) and crafting greeting cards with her close friends. She never shied away from a challenge - the most notable being the Portage business association Mud Wrestling competition at the county fair. She loved her pets, especially her cockatiel, Harry Carey, who spent 25 years with her. In her later years, Noni enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and spent the winter months with her daughters in Florida.

Nona is survived by her daughters, Kathy Shulman, Karen (Paul) Fernholz, Kim Jalbert (Doug Rudersdorf), granddaughters Jessica Brennan, Molly Shulman (Derek Jansen), great grandsons Colin & Henry Brennan and Theo & James Jansen. She is also survived by her siblings Duane (Lotus) Griffin, Bob (Connie) Griffin, Ruth Griffin Weber, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Marion Griffin,  husband James Cox, siblings LaVerne Griffin and Lois Griffin.
