Norman Lien, age 92, of Wisconsin Dells, WI passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 17, 2024.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 11:00 A.M at Trapper's Turn Golf Club in Wisconsin Dells, visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00. Military Honors will be provided with a meal to follow.
Norman was born November 15, 1931 in Bradley, South Dakota the son of Tennie and Clara (Solberg) Lien. He married Margaret Ann Roseth of Butler, South Dakota on August 27, 1952 while Norm was at Fort Benning Jump School in Columbus, Georgia. He spent most of his 9 years of military service at Fort Campbell, Kentucky in the 101st Airborne Division. Stationed 16 months in Korea during the war. After the army, he moved his family to Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin to be close to Margaret's mother, Nellie Holler.
Norman worked at Borg Fabric plant and Reid Studebaker garage in Jefferson, then went to GMC plant in Janesville. In January 1962 he became self-employed when he started Wisconsin Pest Control, and in 1972 moved to Wisc. Dells when Chuck Thompson convinced Norman because the business was growing so fast in the Dells. His youngest son, Jeff worked with Norman after he finished high school and continued to develop the business until it was sold in 2022 after 60 years. Upon moving to the Dells, he had a large colonial home built for his family and later had a smaller house built when the children grew up.
Norm and Margaret did lots of traveling, seeing all 50 states plus Canada, the Canary Islands, Africa, Puerto Rico, Mexico and more. They wintered in Apache Junction, AZ where they settled into a nice park and enjoyed their retirement years.
Norman is survived by his son Dennis (Teresa); two daughters, LilaMae (Barry) Colburn, Monica (Gene) Carmin; 5 grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Chelsea, Jonathan and Preston' 2 great-grandchildren, Daniel and Anthony; two brothers, Harlan (Marion) and Roger (Nina) both of Sioux Falls, SD; his sister, Carol (Russ) Lunde of Mesa, AZ and Jeffrey's fiancé Audrey. He is preceded in death by his parents Tennie and Clara Lien; his loving wife Margaret; youngest son Jeffrey Lien; a brother Thayer Lien and many other beloved relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made out to the "Wounded Warrior Fund".
