Phillip Mattei, born on December 24, 1939 in Pence, Wisconsin, passed away September 5, 2024, at his home in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Phillip graduated from Hurley High School in 1957 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Accounting from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater in 1961. He then began a successful career in Marketing at SnapOn, a global leader in the development and manufacturing of tools. As the Director of Marketing for SnapOn's western region, Phillip resided in San Mateo, California, which brought him close to his beloved brother Frank and his wife Irene, time that he reflected upon fondly. Phillip returned to Wisconsin to serve as SnapOn's Director of National Marketing at their corporate offices in Kenosha, Wisconsin, until retiring in 2003.

Phillip's lifelong connection to Wisconsin Dells began when he worked at his older brother Noel's arcade during high school summer breaks and then as a tour guide and driver at Lost Canyon over summer breaks from college. Throughout the years, he engaged in numerous businesses in the Dells as both an investor and active partner, most notably as a co-owner of Shipwreck Lagoon with his beloved brother and best friend, Jim.

A true lover of sports, Phillip was a skillful athlete as a younger man and a passionate fan and observer throughout his life. He particularly enjoyed the football season and was an avid fan of the Packers and Badgers. He seldom missed a Yankees game and was glued to the television during March Madness, even planning his vacations around the tournament so he could catch every game. He joined numerous football, basketball, and baseball pools, locally and nationally, and in his later years, soccer, finding pleasure in the camaraderie and competition the pools brought. His and his brother Jim's team, the Pence Boys, enjoyed much success over the years.

Honest, patriotic, hardworking, and dedicated to his family and employees, Phillip was caring and generous, making a lasting impact on the lives that were lucky enough to have been touched by him. He will be greatly missed by many.

Phillip is preceded in death by his parents Jerome and Pauline of Hurley, WI; sister Angeline and brother-in-law Constantine (Sam) Sartori of New Carrolton, MD; brothers Julius and Jim and brother Noel and sister-in-law Jeanann of Wisconsin Dells, WI; and his brother Frank of San Francisco. He is survived by sisters-in-law Carol and Barb (Wisconsin Dells, WI), and Irene (San Francisco, CA), as well as many nieces and nephews and their families, all of whom he loved dearly.

Please join his family for a celebration of Phillip's life at The House of Embers in Lake Delton, Wisconsin on Sunday, September 29 from 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone wishing to memorialize Phillip contribute to St. Jude's Research Hospital.
