Renold "Rennie"
Gibeaut
Jul 4, 1955 — Aug 13, 2025
Mauston
Renold "Rennie" Gibeaut age 70 passed away on August 13th, 2025 at Agrace Hospice Center in Fitchburg.
Renold was born to Rollus and Agnes Gibeaut on July 4th, 1955, on a super hot summer day—a fitting entrance for someone who brought warmth and light to those around him, while his siblings waited in the car eating a tub of ice-cream. He graduated from Mauston High School in 1973, where he enjoyed playing football and building lifelong friendships. Renold loved staying connected to the things he was passionate about, especially sports. He was a devoted fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and also loved watching the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers games on TV. In 1975, Renold married Karen Britzman (Nichols), and together, they raised three amazing children whom he loved dearly. He had a deep love for the outdoors—whether it was yard work, gardening, or relaxing on his deck watching the water and wildlife. He also enjoyed taking quiet drives, cracking jokes, and grabbing coffee at Denny's with the guys. One of his favorite pastimes was reminiscing about the old days in Mauston with anyone willing to listen.
Renold had a passion for metal detecting and took great pride in the treasures he found. Music was another joy in his life—especially Cat Stevens. You could often catch him singing along with a peaceful smile. Above all, he treasured time with his children, especially deep and meaningful conversations that they will forever carry with them.
Renold worked as the Maintenance Director at Chula Vista Resort for 19 years, retiring just last year due to health reasons. He was incredibly proud of his work ethic and the life he built through dedication and perseverance. His family admired his strength and determination to get through any battle, right up until the very end.
He is survived by his three beloved children: Bryan (Tracy) Gibeaut of Tomah, Terri (Brent) Paulson of New Lisbon, and Brandon (Sarah) Gibeaut of Cleveland, Ohio. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Logan, Sophie, Hannah, Genevieve, and Anders. He is also survived by his brother and close friend, Rollie (Carolyn) Gibeaut of New Lisbon, along with many other relatives and friends. Renold was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Maurie, and his sister Donna.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Renold Gibeaut's name to Agrace (5395 Cheryl Parkway Fitchburg, WI. 53711) or at Agrace.org/Donate.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Luke Zurbriggen and the Carbone Cancer Center in Madison for their exceptional care during Renold's battle with cancer. A special thank you to Abby with Magnolia Family Care for her compassion and support and to Agrace Hospice Center in Fitchburg for the amazing care you gave our dad in his final days.
