Sandy was born in Wyeville, Wisconsin to Paul Spear Smith and Estella Brown on May 11, 1946. Our mother unfortunately was a resident at one of the Oregon boarding schools until the age of 18. Mother moved to Chicago which she stayed for years then moved to Black River Falls, Wisconsin then Duluth, Minnesota and finally laid roots in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. Mother enjoyed going to elder casino trips with the tribe and mostly going with her partner in crime her sister Kate Smith-Martin. She enjoyed music, especially listening to Freddie Fender, Dolly Parton and lastly Otis Redding. She enjoyed going to good Pow Wows and nice road trips with friends. Mother had a lot of stories of her and auntie's adventures in life.
Mother gave life to three children, eldest Tina Smith-Kelly of LaMarque, Texas, Christopher (Jayda) Bush of La Crosse, Wisconsin, and Carlos Marcus of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. She had 11 grandchildren: Amber (Donald) Kelly-James, Cedrick Kelly Jr., William Scott IV, Jayvawn Bush, Kilyauna Bush, Ezra Bush, Bently Bush, Rayangelo Marcus, Lailani Marcus, Aiyaunna Marcus, and Makylah Marcus; and 6 great-grandchildren Sebastian James, Zoe James, Alexandria James, King James, William Scott V and Breille Scott. Sandy has two siblings Norman Smith of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, and Kate Smith-Martin of Minnesota. A host of nieces and nephews, two that were as close as her own children, Pamela (Jim) Hagadorn and Megan Martin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Everett, John, Levi, Elgin, Oliver, and sister Sadie.
