Shirley L. Anderson passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025 at the age of 97.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells, with Pastor Matthew Gehrke officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 12:00 Noon.
Shirley was born in Wisconsin Dells on June 29, 1927. She was the daughter of Louis and Lucille (Platt) Wrezenski and spent her childhood years on a farm in the Town of Dell Prairie helping her stepfather, Clinton Morse.
Shirley married Clarence (Bud) Anderson on August 18, 1945. Together they farmed in the Town of Newport and raised six children; Linda, Susan, Donna, Richard, Marcia and Mark. Shirley loved the farm; raising chickens, geese, ducks and pigs. She had a love for gardening continuing through the summer of 2024, canning and freezing all of her produce. She also loved to bake and her specialty was cinnamon rolls, which we enjoyed every Christmas day at her house. She also loved being outdoors and riding her lawn mower. For many years she helped her two sons on the farm raising and caring for the pigs until the age of 93. She had a great work ethic that she passed on to her children and grandchildren who she was extremely proud of. She enjoyed family weddings where it was an Anderson tradition to do the chicken dance, and she loved her Red Dog beer.
Shirley started bowling in her 40's and continued on until the age of 92. She enjoyed traveling to many bowling tournaments throughout the country. Bud and Shirley also enjoyed many years of snowmobiling and dancing with members of the Fun Club. The two took several trips together traveling to California, Hawaii, the Black Hills and on a Caribbean cruise.
Shirley is survived by her children, Linda (Harold) Seiler, Susan (Dean) Phillips, Donna Wimann, Richard (Kathy) Anderson, Marcia (John) Hoenecke and Mark (Gina) Anderson, 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a half-brother Louis Wrezenski (Nancy), half-sister Mary Corning and sister-in-law Pam Morse. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepfather, sister Alice Tucker, brothers Thomas and Eugene Morse, sister-in-law Helene Morse, half-brother Don Wrezenski, half-sister Donna Krnak and son-in-law John Wimann.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Columbia County Humane Society.
