Shirley Annette Sus, age 83, of Baraboo, Wisconsin, formerly of rural Wisconsin Dells, passed away peacefully at Oak Park Place Baraboo on Sunday, February 22, 2026, after a 10-year battle with esophageal cancer and its aftereffects.

Shirley was born March 6, 1942, in Trimountain, MI, the daughter of Waino and Anne (Stimac) Ojala. At about the age of four, she and her family moved to Montreal, Wisconsin, and shortly after to nearby Hurley, Wisconsin. After graduating as valedictorian of her high school class, she attended UW-Stevens Point, earning a Bachelor's Degree in English. In 1964, she married Jerome Mindok, who passed away in 1985. Then in 1987, she married Randy (Randolph) Sus. Shirley and Randy both enjoyed a 30-year teaching career at the high school in Stevens Point. Shirley taught English literature, creative composition, and speech and debate.

After retiring from teaching, she and Randy moved to his family farm in Wisconsin Dells. Along with Randy, she was an active member of the Briggsville-Lake Masons Lions Club and the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club. One of Shirley's greatest passions was Creative Memories scrapbooking - documenting each year with thoughtfully designed pages.  Her albums were often gifts to others and true works of art.  Shirley also enjoyed writing in script and adding positive thoughts to her weekly journal. She loved spending time at HoChunk, dining out and listening to music, including Randy singing karaoke, earning him the nickname of "Rockin' Randy."  Shirley was known for her excellent Jeopardy skills and her ability to learn names "at first sight".

Shirley is survived by her sister, Greta (David) Kennard; stepdaughters, Rebecca (William) Foster and Stephanie (Tony) Armstrong; stepson, Ethan (Jennifer) Sus; step-grandchildren, Jack and Nick Foster; Ben, Evan, and Tess Armstrong; and Olivia and Madeline Sus; and sister-in-law, Tina (Don) Rice. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Jerry and Randy.

Shirley's Celebration of Life will be held at Thunderbird Lanes and Banquet Facility in Baraboo, Wisconsin on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m.
